On April 8, 2015, CCCE director Lance Bennett was part of a panel about “The Politics of Global Climate Change” organized by the UW Political Science Department. Bennett addressed the question “Why it is so hard to strike a balance between the economy and the environment?” The panel was held from 4.30pm to 6 pm at the Odegaard Undergraduate Library. Karen Litfin and Aseem Prakash were the other faculty members who were part of the panel. Prof. Litfin, who specializes in global environmental politics, addressed planetary citizenship and the things we as individuals can do to be the change in a changing climate. Prof. Prakash, who studies international political economy, environmental issues and NGO politics, discussed the problems of elite politics that lead to climate inaction. There was a turnout of over 100 engaged and interested students.
